At The Center Of It All

A few days ago, we opened the Every Nation Building Chapel in Manila. It is an amazing spot on top of the building, and having a view of the Bonifacio Global City. A lot of work went into this project, a number of revisions, until the team that worked on it finally got to where we envisioned it to be. I visited the site while it was under construction. It reminded me of my own life and what I used to do.

I was an executive assistant, helped with various events, handled Human Resources, worked on various operational and construction matters, negotiated, and did everything asked of me. And now, I am a ministry intern. So many different roles, people I worked with, and learning gained through the decades.

Someone recently asked a question that has actually been asked of me again and again in the past twelve years or so. “Which job, position, function, or department do you like the most?” Asked in many different ways, but pretty much says the same thing. Which is better? What do you like more? Who is the best? Would you do it all over again?

Would I do it all over again? The answer is a resounding yes. Is one better than the other? The answer is a definite no.

There has always been a singular reason why the changes happened. And it should be the single most important reason why we embrace seasons and change. God orchestrates the events and the seasons of our life. Our best job is what we currently have because it is God’s will. The best team is the one we work with now, because they came with the job. And the most fulfilling is what we do every day to put a smile on God’s face. Does that mean we don’t do anything to make things where we are better? No, but it definitely means we rest in God every day, secure in His sovereignty over our life and affairs.

Whether it is a negotiation or construction job, or a teaching or preaching assignment, the Cross is at the center. The way all of life ought to be lived.
